To get better gas mileage out of youre ride.
- Tire presure-. Make sure youre tires have the right PSI . You can find youre psi for youre car insidie the driver door.
-OIL- Change OIL EVERY 5000 MILES. Poor old oil can make extra heat and put a strain on youre motor .You will get better mpg with new and clean oil. If youre car has high mileage then use the high mileage oil or , add OIL TREATMENT to youre oil. Try to change the oil youre self. Look and see if you can get to the oil filter, Some cars are very easy. You will be very ,happy if you do it youre self, this will save you 25 bucks every time.
-AIR FILTER.- If you have a dirty air filter the car will not breath and it will not drive as smooth. UP GRADE YOURE AIR FILTER- You can buy a KNN filter for yuore car. It will be the last one you buy. When they get dirty wash with kit and spray with water let dry, and oil, and put back it,. KNN let youre car breath better and you should see better mpg on the highway and the car will have more pep. They run from 25-60 bucks. UP GRADE BIG ENGINE air filters. Cold air intake by KNN or AIRAID . They take the place off the old box and aill make the car breath better. They are not hard to put in. They will give a V8 2-3 extra mpg on the highway.
-Speed limit.- Most cars are fuelinjected , and if you have a lead foot, the car will show by poor MPG.Try to be early. If youre not in a rush, --why speed??
Tranmission fluid change.-- You should change every 40.000 ,miles. The trany will stay cooler and make the car shift gears when needed on a auto. A transmission should last 100.000 or more. Thats if you dont haul a trailer .
Fuel Injector cleaner. If you are ready to go on a long trip put some Fuel cleaner in youre tank. There are many brands. . Any that clean youre injectors will work. Put some in before heading out and when returning home. Youre car will run smoother. A smooth car is a happy car.
WIEGHT. If you have a bunch of stuff in youre truck or car, that wieghs alot. UNLOAD less weight better mpg.
THATS WHAT I THINK.
Motorcycles are the better way to save. 1300 V STAR 900-1500 VALCUN honda 1300 VTX HONDA INTERCEPTOR 800 Harley Sportys and other 1400 cc ANy largeer bikes such as a 1700 will get about 32 and 38 higway. My bike gets 34 40 plus on the highway. SPEED LIMIT drivng. DRIVE SAFE AND BE AWARE of every thing around you.
photo below is a AIR INTAKE system. they go from 120-190 they last the life time of the car. IF YOU HAVE A-V6- V8 I would look into it.You will be very pleased.

| LOL! Yes LD 'some' Americans are waking up and realizing that their gas guzzling SUV's are way too expensive to drive now. But they're stuck with them because the resale value of them has dropped to next to nothing. Even with low mileage and being very new, the resale price is nothing close to what the vehicles should be worth.

| lol some of us Gas Guzzlers have actually found that if they can save two tanks of gas a month they can get a small car with good gas mileage and it be completely paid for!!! How sad!

I know anna.. No car lots will even take an SUV or big car for trade in any more.. so if you still have payments.. how is it saving money if you just give it away when you get a smaller car. some good points Sureshot.

| I saw in the paper at the weekend, that if your car runs on Diesel fuel, then there is a new thing you can have fitted to your car that will allow it to run on used Vegetable oil. It costs about £600, but thats got to be a good investment.

| We're looking at scooters. I guess there's a Vespa that gets 100mpg (that would be... um... 42-1/2kml). We're also looking at "throwaway" cars like the Kia Rio or cheap but not-so-throwaway like the Honda Fit. We've got a car that gets in the 20s and a pickup truck that sits in the driveway now but we don't want to get rid of because we actually USE the pickup truck fairly often and it would cost a ton to rent something.

Useful points on fuel conservation. Other strategies may include life style alterations, consolidation of travel time where vehicles are used for needed long distance errands, and reducing electric power in the household (this reduces fuel usage at the power generating facility and indirectly affects prices at the pumps). Through leaps and bounds, necessity will greatly motivate life style changes that embrace the four "R's" of conservation. (Recycle, reduce, re-use, reject or refuse)

You should change youre oil. There are some chevy trucks that have over 200,000 miles. That change there oil and other fluids. Dirt will kill the life time out of a engine. Advance oil can last 7000 to 8,000 miles with advance oil filters. OIL breaks down so you need new oil.

If you do buy a scooter wear bright colors dont have black on black. Black scooter, black helmet, is hard to see.

My son has a new Cobalt. He is getting 36 or better, on the highway. I got rid of my Durango 4 years ago. I knew gas was going up. I pick up a Saturn VUE I put a air intake I get 26 -27 -highway. Its a 6 the 3.5 honda motor that GM put in 2005 models. I had a friend, she is n real Estate she went out and got a huge jeep. That new comander with 8. She is gettingf 11 in the city. She told me she made a big mistake. She drives people around to look at houses. She is getting rid of it but is taking a huge loss. I told her Mini VAN.
I think if this keeps up the horse will be my next ride. The----- winter --a dog sled. My dogs will earn there meal.

My husband would be commuting to work on it during decent weather... he can go all surface roads (I've seen scooters on the freeway... terrifying proposition)... and he's already been informed that he needs to wear a safety vest! The vest is the only way I'd even consider it. For all the talk about seeing motorcycles... scooters are about as visible as pedal bikes and motorcycles look like 18 wheel tractor-trailers next to them!

I have been experimenting with basic "hypermiler" techniques the last few days. If you take it easy at stop lights and drive smoothly, then you can improve your mileage by about a third. I'm also experimenting with coasting in neutral (down hills and such). So far I've increased my mileage by about 40 percent (on this tank of gas). Simple, common sense driving behaviors. My Geo Prism gets about 30 mpg (usually). It's not horrible, but it's not good either.

| I don't know how you plan on getting the oil filter out without losing a ton of oil... but if you figure it out, then let me know. I'm not much of a car person, but not changing the oil will gradually increase the oil pressure in your vehicle. It'll start coming out of places that your car (or bike, I'm sure) won't appreciate. Oil changes can turn into scams when mechanics "find" problems on top of the oil change. You see, oil changes get you in the door, but don't make the shop a lot of money (or none at all).

My son told me that a oil change place. got busted. They change youre oil but not the filter. Some SUV or cars . The filter is right under the front of the motor. Just take off the cover and there it is. BUT some cars are just to much to get at the filter. You have to be double jointed or be rubber man. Its not a very clean job. Its messy. But oil breals down, and must be done only when there is nothing else to do but get messy.
