Every morning my daughter and her friends hear a whistle and roar of a ghost train going through the woods just feet from our driveway while she waits for the school bus. The tracks were removed years ago and a hiking trail has taken its place. The deadly train wreck occured here in the 1960's and had gruesome casualties. My friend told of her father helping rescue workers to clear the terrible sight. He had to remove the bottom half of a woman (and only the bottom half remained) off of the road to spare on-lookers.
Up north of here we have a well documented story of a ghost lite (published in Haunted Wisconsin and aired on Unsolved Mysteries). This has been studied by scientist and has yet to be explained. I have seen this also. You park at the top of a rolling hill. At dusk, 365 days a year, you can see what appears to be a bright round light that starts at the top of the next hill and slowly desends to the bottom. Afterwards, it starts over again until sunrise. Legend is that it is a man that worked the railroad. His duty was to walk the tracks with a oil lamp and assist with the tracks. He was suppose to have been killed by the train and forever more walks the tracks.
Does anyone else have similar stories?

I don't have a train story but I do have one about a light. In southern Missouri, near a town called Seneca, there is a light that sounds similar to the one you wrote about. I have seen the light many times. It's called the Spook Light. The government has studied it and has no explanation for it. There are Native American legends about it's origin. They say that a princess from one tribe was in love with a brave from another tribe. The tribes were at war and the young lovers were not allowed to be together. So, they snuck off and when her father found out he sent his braves after them. The couple joined hands and jumped off a cliff to their deaths rather than be separated. The legend says that the light is the spirits of the couple. The road it's on is an isolated back road that's gravel. The light can appear right next to you and in the blink of an eye it's 1/2 mile down the road. It never leaves the road and it will not cross the road that makes a T with it. Lots of people go there to see the light and teenagers party on the road at night. The light does not tolerate being made fun of or really loud partying. There are photos of burnt car hoods and the people who were in them swear that the light landed on their cars and they saw a scary angry face inside the light. I have never seen a face in the light and it has never chased me, like it apparently has other people. But, I respect it and don't do anything to make it angry either.
We are never alone in this world!

That's a GREAT story. I think that I read something about that Indian legend but not about the burnt car hoods or the face that appears in the light. The light I wrote about can not be seen once it is approached. It can be filmed though. From what I have heard, these lights have appeared all over the United States. Does anyone else have a similar story, and from where? I am curious to see where this happens. Does it happen in other countries? I don't buy the scientific "guess" that it's SWAMP GAS, but it may be, ya never know? This world is full of unsolved mysteries.
