I am getting both replace next year.BUT UNTIL THEN-- I have been driking alot of milke do you think this made them get worse. The weather here is 90,s and dry but my knees have took a turn to worse. I have a wedding , and I swim team to photograph. AND I am starting to get depressed. It takes me so long to do normal taskS. They just seem to get worse. My doctor gave me some mucle relaxers for my back. I pulled it out. Could this cause a flare up. My back is ok,but now my knees.ARE BARKING , I am still working out but mostly swimming. Light weights and watching girls. I mean...............WATCHING WHAT I EAT,. Can I eat any thing that would help?
DO YOU THINK THEY HAVE NEW KNEES AT WALMART?

| Ouch, I feel your pain.. I have spinal arthritis and it gets really bad during the weather change from hot to cold and vise versa... I also notice more pain when I am more active so maybe you should take it easy until your photo shoots! Stretching is always a plus if you can manage... You can also try massaging lightly around the knee caps... If all else fails, time to see a physician... Good luck to you!

Did you ask if you could get some cortisone shots? They hurt like hell the next day.. but after that it's smooth sailing for a few months.. That with ibuprophen.. and ice packs..is about all you can do..definately swimming.. but no hard ground exercises..like running.. or squats. glucosamine works.. but it takes a while. I would ask for the cortisone.. trust me.. it works wonderful.

Ouch, that sounds horrible. I'm with Tru on the cortisone - I've known a couple of people who've had it, and it worked really well for them.
If you can't go that route, try drinking a couple of ounces of cherry juice per day - pure, not watered-down and sugared-up concoctions that are euphamistically called "fruit punches" or "fruit drinks". I'm told cherry juice is very helpful for pain relief. I have fibromyalgia, and I've been attempting to try it for that, as nothing else really works. However, I had a heck of a time finding it until our local grocery stores started stocking organic products. You can try local health food stores as well.
I can't attest personally to the cherry juice, as I'm not used to having it, so haven't been remembering to drink it on a daily basis. However, on the odd occasion when I have remembered for a few days in a row, I did notice a difference. Not sure yet if that's coincidence or not - I'll have to give it a more serious trial. It can't hurt to give it a try though - at worst, it won't work for you, but at least it will still be something healthy going into your body!
EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot about this stuff. MSM has gotten a lot of rave reviews for help with pain relief, especially when associated with arthritis and fibromyalgia. I found that it did not do anything for me, however, I tend to be very resistant to a lot of medications - synthetic and natural. Always have been. So things that work for most people often won't have any affect on me. At any rate, my sister personally knew one man who had horrid arthritis, and he started using MSM as a kind of last hope. It worked amazingly well for him. So you may want to give that a try as well. It can usually be found in most health food or natural vitamin and supplement stores.
Shark cartilege is also supposed to work wonders. I know a couple of people who swear by it, and it's made a huge difference in their lives. I've tried it (supposed to be awesome for fibromyalgia as well), but again, it did not do anything for me. Many people say it works for them very quickly - within a period of days - while some others say you need to be on it for a month or so. To be fair, I didn't give it much longer than a month, so perhaps I just didn't give it a long enough trial. However, at the time it was outrageously expensive, so I was not prepared to keep spending that kind of money on something that wasn't working for me.
My sister tried glucosamine, which is a big seller for people with arthritis pain. My sister has arthritis, and she tried it, but she didn't find it helped her very much. The thing with glucosamine is that you need to be on it for sometimes two or three months before it starts to show any benefits as far as pain control is concerned. Although it didn't work for my sister, she does have friends that swear by it - which is why she tried it in the first place.
The thing to remember is that some things will work for some people, some things will work for others - rarely will you find something that works well for everyone. So you may have to try several products before you come across one that will work for you. Good luck, and I hope that you are feeling better soon!
Ibuprofin is an anti-inflamatory and pain reliever. We can safely take 800mg every 4 hours. jc
This is great if you are not on Coumandin, Plavix, Heparin, Lovenox etc. And yes, you can take 800 mg three times daily.
Are your knees swollen on the outisde like possible fluid? IF NOT, you "might" want to try an over the counter "Glucosomine Chondroiton" (sp???) and it is generally by the pharmacy. It puts correct fluid in the knee area to decrease the pain. (It is not a pain reliever.) But perhaps it with the Ibuprofen (Alleve Advil etc) it will help you until you have your surgery.
My Ex Husband had problems with his knees and was a carpenter. I got that for him during a time he had a lot of finsh/trim work to do that consisted of a lot of time up and down and on his knees. He was very happy with the results. If in doubt... always ASK your pharmacist. They have a lot of years education on all those meds and what not to mix with what. And asking your pharmacist IS FREE!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Luck and I hope it helps.

SS let me just tell you 800 mlg of Ibuprophen works wonders for me. I usually have to take one every morning after I eat a little something. I have yet to the see the Rheumatologist but we are pretty sure its RA from all the tests I had done. I usually can make it through the whole day with one 800mlg IBU until arounf 10 pm if I have done a lot such as yard work, lots of house cleaning ECT. Normally its the joints in my hands and feet that ache. For the past several weeks I have felt pretty good with minor trouble that just eases with taking one pill. Now I have had days where I have had really bad joint sweeling and pain ( like its sprained ) in my knee and taking the Ibuprophen 3 times a day keep it bearable but I can't do a whole lot when I am in this much pain. They have given me pain meds but none of that works like the Ibu. I have found that a heating pad helps too and ace wraps as well. Maybe for these shoots you can at least try some braces for your knees just to get you through. I know this sounds crazy but Vicks Vapor rub has helped me in the past as well.
Good luck and I hope you find some type of relief I certainly know how you feel. ((HUGS))

Arthritis? That topic and condition covers a wide range of information and suggested treatments as well as different types. Your self analysis describing your present condition sounds like it leans toward the physically debilitating and may need more than a pair of shoes to realign the skeletal system. A physical therapist and / or general practitioner (GP) and possibly a specialist, may need to be part of your treatment regimen to determine any bone joint inflammation processes as an infectious, metabolic, and / or constitutional cause. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. This site, for starters, may help answer some questions without sending you a bill. [ http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/arthritis.html ] That's not to say that a specialist will not be needed. Since your dealing with "body chemistry" you have to consider potential remedies from biochemical sources as well as physical corrections. Whether these sources are herbal, short term over the counter (OTC) medicines, physician prescribed pharmaceutical Rx's, that of a physical therapist, or merely realigning your skeletal system from the feet up with a properly fitted pair of shoes, remains to be determined.

My knees are bad enough for me to look like I ride a horse to much. I have bowed legs now. I dont walk very well. I will have both knees done. Jan 2009 . Or right one first then the left . OR maybe get them both done. I think the hot weather got them flared up. 90,s. Today it was only 80 ish and there not as bad. Doctor Thamos of tristate, In Cranberry Pa will do the operation. He works with alot Football baseball, hockey players and is known to be the best. Thanks for all the imfo folks. Its been tough with the knees. My back is fused L4 L5 , and with me walking uneven, its been making my back hurt. I swim 3-4 times a week and keep a good out look on life. My family will not, let me feel nothing but support and love. I seem to be fine on my motorcycle . A little rough on the back if I ride more then 2 hours. I dont feel bad about my health, I know a few people that are fighting caner, and I have few friends that are in a wheel chair. I will not cry about my shoes hurting my feet when some one ,is out there that cant even aford shoes at all and walk bare foot. Thats my out look on life when it gets tough. HUGS TO ALL OF YOU. dont worry guys I dont swing that way. lol
